Why load management?

The load management program at PEC was put into place to keep power costs down. Because power suppliers need to own or purchase enough electric capacity to meet their needs during periods of peak use, load management decreases our costs by reducing the total capacity that our power supplier needs to have available at peak times. Finally, load management frees up additional capacity, lowering the cost for all co-op members.

What is load management?

Electrical power systems in the southwestern part of the United States continue to peak during the hottest days of the year. Non-residential consumers who elect to participate in People's Electric Cooperative's (PEC's) Load Management Program and are already being billed demand will receive a reduced electric demand charge throughout the entire year if they are able to curtail their load on days that are declared to be peak days. Consumers who are able to curtail all or a portion of their load during the peak period may see substantial savings.
