In accordance with People’s Electric Cooperative’s Bylaws, the Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Cothren as the new district 3 trustee for PEC. The district 3 seat was left vacant after Vicky Petete, the previous trustee, resigned.
Mr. Cothren is currently the Regional Operations Manager for P&K Equipment where he has worked for 20 plus years in the John Deere business. In this role John helps with the day-to-day operations of the P&K locations in this area. John and his family also farm and ranch in the Stratford area on a Centennial Farm. 252200202
He is an alumnus of Stratford High School and a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors in Agribusiness. John resides near Stratford with his wife Leigh-Anne and their children Cash and Charlee Grace. He and his family enjoy chasing kids to all sorts of functions and working together on the farm.
“Mrs. Petete will be greatly missed, and we look forward to working with our new trustee as we continue to navigate new challenges and opportunities and provide the best service and support possible to our Members,” said CEO Kevin Wood.
In April PEC’s board notified all district 3 members of the vacancy via letter and requested their input. “We are excited to welcome Mr. Cothren to the PEC Board. We greatly appreciate his willingness to serve and represent the Membership,” stated Jenny Trett, PEC Chairman of the Board and President.
Cothren was affirmed at the July Board meeting. He will serve the remainder of this term which runs through August 2025, at which time the regular district election will be held at the district 3 meeting.
