Are you ready to make your mark? Youth Tour gives high school juniors the opportunity to experience Washington, D.C., while learning about leadership, government and the cooperative difference—all as part of an all-expenses-paid educational trip.
Dating back to 1964, Youth Tour has introduced more than 50,000 young Americans to our nation’s capital. PEC is proud to have sent 116 delegates on this lifechanging journey.
From June 18 through June 23, 2027, Youth Tour delegates from electric cooperatives across the country will gather in Washington, D.C., for a week filled with leadership, education, sightseeing, and new friendships. Students will learn about the cooperative business model, meet with Oklahoma’s Congressional Delegation, tour Mount Vernon, cruise the Potomac River, and visit major monuments and memorials throughout the nation’s capital.
Youth Tour is more than a trip—it’s an opportunity to make new friends, gain confidence, learn about government, and create memories that last a lifetime. PEC is looking for three local high school juniors to represent our communities on Youth Tour 2027. If you’re enrolled in 11th grade in a public, private, or homeschool system within PEC’s 11-county service area, you’re eligible to participate.
PEC representatives will visit area schools during October to introduce students to Youth Tour, explain the process, and answer questions. In November, participating schools will host the Youth Tour written test. 183200103
Students are selected through a two-step process. First, interested students take a written test covering rural electrification. The top 10 scorers will advance to an interview competition at PEC Headquarters in Ada, where a panel of judges will select the three Youth Tour delegates.
For students who need another testing opportunity, a final test will be offered at PEC Headquarters on Saturday, January 9, 2027, at 9 a.m.
