The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC) is launching a brand-new opportunity for 9th-grade students to explore leadership the cooperative way. The Co-Op Leadership Challenge, taking place July 16, 2026, at the OAEC Conference Center in Oklahoma City, is a one-day, hands-on experience where students will work in teams to tackle a simulated electric cooperative outage scenario.
Participants will build skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership while learning how electric cooperatives serve their communities. People’s Electric Cooperative will sponsor two students to attend, and transportation to and from the event will be provided by PEC. 432800707
Students interested in participating must complete a short application and submit a 30 to 60-second “Power Pitch” video answering one of the leadership questions listed on the CLC page.
Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2026.
