PEC named 2025 Tree Line USA Utility by Arbor Day Foundation for the 24th year in a row.
In cities and neighborhoods, trees can reduce extreme heat, improve mental and physical health, and filter pollutants from the air. When planted the right way and in the right places, trees can even help homeowners save on annual energy costs.
For the first time, PEC is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to give two free trees to members in PEC’s service territory.
“Members who take advantage of energy efficiency measures in the months leading up to summer can maximize their savings,” said Lee McElroy, Director of Environmental Services. “We are proud to offer this program at no charge to our members while supplies last.”
Through an online educational and mapping tool developed by the Arbor Day Foundation, members can reserve up to two trees. [NOTE: Quantities are limited.] The interactive tool helps guide residents to identify the best place to plant them in order to maximize air, water, and energy saving benefits. Trees will be delivered directly to residents at an ideal time for planting in their area.
Planting the right tree in the right place is key to maximizing the energy-saving benefits that trees provide. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, a properly planted tree, on average, can save a homeowner up to 20% on energy costs.
