Thank the Lineman on April 10

America’s electric cooperatives have designated the second Monday of April as National Lineman Appreciation Day.

On April 10, 2023, People’s Electric Cooperative (PEC) will honor the dedicated men who often work in challenging conditions to keep the lights on. We proudly recognize all electric linemen for the services they perform around the clock in dangerous conditions to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety.

“Our lineworkers are the first responders of our electric system, and they work around the clock on high-voltage lines,” said PEC’s Executive VP & CEO Kevin Wood. “Conditions can be dangerous, but they power through to ensure reliable service for our members.”

Nationwide, there are approximately 120,000 electric lineworkers. Ada based PEC currently employees 34 lineworkers who are responsible for keeping power fl owing 24/7, 365 days a year. To do this, they maintain approximately 5,000 miles of distribution and transmission line across 11 counties. 921400201

Being a lineworker may not seem like a glamorous job, but it is absolutely essential to the life of our community. Without the exceptional dedication and commitment of these hardworking men and women, we simply would not have the reliable electricity that we need for everyday life. So, the next time you see a lineworker, please thank them for the work they do to keep power flowing, regardless of the time of day or weather conditions.

After all, lineworkers are the power behind your power. Please join us as we recognize them on April 10, and follow “#ThankALineworker” on social media to see how others are recognizing lineworkers.
